INI's Building on the Irchel campus
The Institute of Neuroinformatics (INI) is located on beautiful Irchel campus of the University of Zurich.
-
Irchel campus
Located on the outskirts of the city of Zurich, the Irchel Campus hosts University as well as a few ETH institutes.
-
Entrance to the institute
The institute’s name reveals its mission: to study and understand the principles of neural computation, and to implement these principles in electronic devices.
-
Student room
Students have their desks in large, open spaces that encourage interactions across research groups and promote the institute’s social life.
-
An individual student workspace
Students have their own desks, each equipped with a desktop computer.
-
INI's weekly lab meeting
One of INI's main event is its weekly lab meeting, which is attended by all of INI's members.
-
Electronic workplace
Along with several top-modern neurobiology laboratories, INI also has infrastructure to design and develop neuromorphic electronic devices.
-
Group meeting
INI research groups meet regularly to discuss progress, exchange ideas and learn about other people’s work.
-
Happy hour
The weekly colloquium organized by INI attracts prominent speakers to Zurich.
-
Public events
In addition to its contribution to science and higher education, INI also participates in public events that aim to show and explain modern science to the general public.
The Institute of Neuroinformatics (INI) was established at the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich at the end of 1995. The mission of the Institute is to discover the key principles by which brains work and to implement these in artificial systems that interact intelligently with the real world.
