How To Access Xilinx ISE under Linux

In case you need to access Xilinx ISE under Linux (in TLC or elsewhere), here is the procedure.

The version of Xilinx ISE under Linux is older than the one you are currently using under Windows, and so some aspects will look slightly different, but on the whole the design flow is almost identical.

The only downside to using ISE under Linux is that you will not be able to program your BASYS 2 board directly. Instead you will need to use the Digilent Adept software under Windows from either a laptop or the machines in TLF.

To open up ISE under Linux, do the following

1) Open up a terminal

2) Type "tcsh" followed by the return key

3) Type "/home/ise-9.2i/i686/Xilinx92i/bin/lin/ise" followed by the return key

If you are having difficulties, please ask a demonstrator.
