This material is for the topic “Phototransduction using Silicon” for the ETH Neuroscience Center course on Advanced Topics in Neurobiology, part 2: Signal Transduction in the nervous system (See Schedule for Spring 2008 course.)

The topic of this lecture is how we can model biological phototransduction in biological photoreceptors using silicon microcircuits, and how this modeling leads to new types of practical vision sensor devices. It includes an introduction for neuroscientists to how silicon chips are designed and built.
