My research at the Institute for Neuroinformatics (INI) in Zurich, Switzerland centers on using neuromorphic design principles to make practical vision sensors.
I am a titular professor of physics at the ETH and lead the Neuromorphic Hardware group, along with Shih-Chii Liu and Giacomo Indiveri, and a Visiting associate at Caltech. I also coorganize the annual Telluride Workshop on Neuromorphic Engineering, am Senior Member IEEE, Secretary of IEEE CAS Sensory Systems TC, coorganizer of ISCAS 2008 Demo Session, CAS Lecturer 2007-2008, member of the Society for Neuroscience, , associate editor of The Neuromorphic Engineer, and IEEE Trans. on Biomedical Circuits and Systems.
