I have received my master in mathematical and natural sciences at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland. During my PhD conducted at the Friedrich Miescher Institute and University of Basel I have studied the connectivity of the motor controlling circuits in developing spinal cord. Currently I am studying neural mechanisms underlying vocal production and vocal learning in songbirds and in human. I am especially interested in how different parameters of produced sounds are controlled and tuned by neural circuits. I am engaged in development of a technique to record chronically, with carbon fiber multi-electrode, neuronal activity during vocal learning in juvenile and adult birds. I am interested in connectivity of the neural system and using tracing techniques based on viral expression of markers I am studying brain circuits in rodents and birds
